Produced by New Zealand director Peter Jackson ( Heavenly Creatures , Lord of the Rings, King Kong ) was a bit 'a surprise success in the U.S., where it grossed a hundred million dollars in less than a month, between August and September 2009. In Italy, the film came shortly afterwards, but did not go so well, and disappeared quickly from the salt. A pity, because in fake documentary and fake science fiction film District 9 says several things are true, and not always pleasant (in fact) on which it is set in South Africa (and from which comes the director, Neill Blomkamp) and on contemporary society of many countries who love to be considered empathetic and Democrats, but against the "other" move to shots of rejections and detention camps, more or less temporary.
